Work From Home Essentials Pt. 2: The Necessary Supplies
If you, like so many others around the nation, are now working from home for the first time you might feel a little out of your element. At this point in the game, you’ve probably set up workable office space from scratch (if you didn’t have one already), complete with ergonomic chairs and monitors in your kitchen or living room area. Your technology will keep you connected, but you’ll need a couple more items to facilitate your daily tasks and get back into the natural working groove.
1. Monitor Riser (or) Monitor Arm
If you’re going to be working from home, one of the most important supplies you can get is a monitor riser or arm. Using these will keep your neck from consistently craning downward to look at your screen. A monitor riser is excellent for a single laptop or standard desktop. An arm can hold 1-2 monitors for better work facilitation. For the latter, you’ll need a wireless keyboard and mouse to pair with it.
2. “Daylight” Architect Lamp
You might not have the natural light of your window-side desk in the office, but you can get the same natural light for your home workspace with a “daylight” lamp. Using a lamp while you work will keep your space illuminated at all times, preventing eyestrain. The adjustable features of an architect style lamp allow you to customize it to your space.
3. Mesh Desk Organizer
One of the most important things to maintain when working from home is a sense of organization. Just like in the office, clutter will lead to stress and lower productivity. Simple organizers that fit on the surface of your home workstation will help your space to stay neat and organized. Plus, you’ll always have a pen at the ready when a client calls.
4. Wirebound Guided Business Notebook
Designed for business, this notebook is your best friend when working from home. Use it to keep track of all your remote meetings, notes, and objectives for your work. Keep it next to your monitor to have on hand whenever a client happens to call.
5. Colorful Post-it Notes
Need to call a client at 2pm tomorrow? Have to send out an email follow up or remember to send a document? Write on a sticky note and put it on the rim of your monitor. These little pieces of adhesive paper are your key to remembering little but important tasks when working from home.
